With Christmas just around the corner, Resident Assistants (RAs) from Buccleuch Place partnered with a local church, Edinburgh Elim, to spread some festive joy to disadvantaged children through the charity Operation Christmas Child.
Using shoeboxes provided by the church, our RAs collected items from our students using a drive through social media highlighting specific items that were needed.
Residents were really excited by the idea and wanted to spread some Christmas cheer, including a few international students who had never celebrated Christmas before. The charity drive culminated in a Thanksgiving potluck where residents got together to wrap and pack the presents collected.
Buccleuch did a fantastic job, filling 16 shoeboxes for the drive and our RA team at Buccluech is eager to have more charity drives in 2018.
