Deaconess comprises the refurbishment of the original Victorian Deaconess Hospital and the new build of three blocks arranged around a central courtyard to provide a mix of cluster and studio rooms. Situated close to the heart of the city centre, Deaconess is an ideal location for those studying at the central campus. Deaconess has 280 single, en-suite bedrooms with each flat containing three, five or six bedrooms. There is also 35 self-contained studio apartments.

Bedding packs, comprising of a sheet, duvet, duvet cover, pillow and pillowcase (does not include a mattress protector) can be purchased from the University (at an additional cost) using the order form link in your offer details. However, these packs are only available to students at beginning of lease.


All rooms are en-suite and have a private shower, WC and wash hand basin.

Common room

There is a common room in building 142, accessible by all students, this is equipped with seating areas, games table and TV/DVD player.

This is self-catered accommodation and kitchens are equipped with the following items:

Students have access to coin-operated laundry facilities on-site.

Cleaning and housekeeping

Staff will visit your flat weekly and assist you in keeping common areas clean (kitchens, bathrooms, halls and stairs). 

We will visit en-suite shower rooms fortnightly to assist in cleaning these areas too. 

Residents should clear excess rubbish and remove all recycling to the designated areas,  they are also responsible for keeping their own bedrooms clean.

Please note that all of our accommodation is non-smoking, this includes e-cigarettes.


All utility bills included  - there is an average allowance of electricity but overuse can result in additional charges.
