Our self-catered properties are made up of a mixture of residences and flats
Each residence is distinct in character, from the historic Mylne's Court on the Lawnmarket near Edinburgh Castle, to a modern conversion of former office premises right next to George Square at Richmond Place.
All have benefited from refurbishment or renovation in the last few years.
Much of Mylne's Court has been redeveloped as flats for groups of up to five students, while the other self-catered residences retain the traditional corridor-style accommodation.
Our flats reserved for new students are in a mixture of purpose-built developments or older, renovated buildings, which are all specially designed with students in mind.
Most flats house three to six students, although those at West Mains Road and some at Brae House and Kincaid's Court house eight to twelve students. Blocks of flats vary in size and can house between 70 and 250 students.
Most of the blocks are built in the traditional 'tenement' style, with a number of flats on each landing of a common stair.
Our 4 person or above flats are generally mixed gender, however, if you would like to be in a single sex flat you can specify this on your application form.
Tenancies for all self-catered properties start in September and are for the full academic session, including both winter and spring vacations.
Mylne's Court, Richmond Place, Roxburgh Place, Ratcliffe Terrace, West Mains Road, Morgan Court, Holyrood and Blackwood Crescent/Causewayside are let on 51-week tenancies until late August/early September including the summer vacation, since they are primarily available only to postgraduates.
Part-year tenancies are also available to visiting and exchange students.
