Accommodation can be booked and paid for once you have accepted your offer of term time accommodation from the University of Edinburgh. You will pay rent for the days you need to self-isolate in University accommodation, and will be supported during your self-isolation period, receive meals and Residence Life support at no additional charge.
This accommodation can be booked and paid for once you have accepted your offer of term time accommodation from the University of Edinburgh via your Accommodation Induction
Arrival into your isolation accommodation can take place from 2 August. We’d encourage students arriving early to be here by the 25 August to give you time to complete your self-isolation in advance of Welcome Week. It is our intention to house you continuously in your term time accommodation if possible. However, if your term time room is not available we will offer you alternative accommodation for your isolation period.
Why Self-isolating is Important
When you arrive at your final destination in Scotland, it may be necessary for you to self-isolate and stay in your accommodation for at least 10 days. After you catch the virus, it can take up to 10 days for you to develop coronavirus symptoms and, in this time, you can pass on the virus to others. Self-isolating will help Scotland keep the R number low and help avoid more people contracting COVID-19. This safeguards family, friends and the community, as well as helping to protect the NHS. For more information on how to self-isolate, go to https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-public-health-checks-at-borders/pages/self-isolation/

Do I need to self-isolate?
The University has guidance, advice and support for students around self-isolation.
Self-isolating due to arriving from outside the UK
Under current Scottish Government guidelines, you must self-isolate for 10 days if you are travelling from the countries listed here. The University has travel advice for all our students travelling from within, and outside of the UK.
Self-isolating in our accommodation
People who have symptoms of COVID-19 must self-isolate for 10 days, and the people you live with should self-isolate for 10 days. That means not leaving the house at all, even to exercise or to get food and medicine.
Meal provision and deliveries
All students in University accommodation will be provided delivered food suitable to the kitchen/pantry facilities available within your accommodation.
In catered halls, students will be provided packed meals (including re-heatable meals) with vegan and gluten free options available as well as additional allergen requirements met. There is a different option each day over 7 days.
In self-catered accommodation, if requested, we will provide you with a grocery box (standard and vegan options available), fruit and vegetable bags with bread which is suitable for a 7-day period.
