Students with a disability
We give all possible support to help students with disabilities and health conditions secure accommodation that best suits their needs.
Care and Support
Accommodation, Catering and Events recognise that disabilities encompass a much wider spectrum than physical impairments and that not all disabilities are visible. We offer a 24-hour pastoral support service through our Residence Life team in all first-year and postgraduate accommodation. This service is provided for the benefit of all our students, whether disabled or not.
Facilities
Accommodation, Catering and Events continue to work closely with the Student Disability Service to expand the range of facilities available for disabled students in both catered halls and self-catered residences and flats. This already includes wheelchair-accessible accommodation and rooms, which have been specially adapted for students with a hearing impairment.
Pets Policy
The accommodation lease for student accommodation does not allow pets in properties. The exception to this rule is for Assistance Dogs that fall into the definition in the linked document below; in such cases, the dogs will be welcome where suitable accommodation is available.
