Our aim is to create a residential community that welcomes and supports all students living in our accommodation. Most of our residents are new to the University and to Edinburgh and we are here to help with your transition into life in our fantastic city. You may be living away from home for the first time but you will also be taking on an exciting academic challenge and we are here to help you settle in and make the most of your time with us.

The role of the Residence Life team is to build an inclusive community that delivers real opportunities to meet with others and to form your own friendship groups; friendship groups we know can last a lifetime. In an environment where consideration for others and mutual respect are both valued and encouraged, we believe that living in our accommodation will give you the best start to your new life at University.

There are lots of friendly and experienced staff available to help you settle in. Wardens live in our accommodation and are on hand to assist with any concerns you may have. And there are over 200 Resident Assistants (RAs) across our estate; enthusiastic returning students whose priority is to welcome you and support you throughout the year. RAs run busy events programmes and are here to listen and answer any questions you may have.

Our Wardens and RAs work hard to create an inclusive and positive environment in which you can live. They will of course rely on your cooperation and consideration to help ensure all students can study, sleep, relax and enjoy their time with us and it is our hope that residents will work with us and actively contribute to our community.
